Geely has unveiled its Galaxy A7 EM-i, an upcoming mid-size plug-in hybrid sedan which will be the first to feature the all-new Leishen AI Hybrid 2.0 system.
China’s multinational auto maker Geely has announced that its upcoming mid-size plug-in hybrid sedan, the Galaxy A7 EM-i, has become the first vehicle to be equipped with the new Leishen AI Hybrid 2.0 system. The Galaxy A7 EM-i is scheduled to be launched in the Chinese market during the third quarter of this year.
The hybrid sedan offers an impressive driving range of over 1,305 miles, made possible by Geely’s advanced hybrid system that combines a highly efficient engine with modern electric drive technology. The vehicle is expected to be priced between 100,000 and 130,000 yuan (around $14,000 to $18,200).
The A7 EM-i comes with different battery configurations, providing electric-only ranges of either 34 miles or 75 miles based on the selected pack. Targeting competitors such as the BYD Qin L and Wuling Starlight, this model presents a fresh choice in China’s expanding plug-in hybrid sedan market.
Hybrid powertrain hits 94 MPG and boosts battery life with AI
The Galaxy A7 EM-i’s advanced powertrain pairs a 1.5-liter naturally aspirated engine with an electric motor, achieving a class-leading thermal efficiency of 47.26%. Real-world tests show extremely efficient fuel consumption at 94 miles per gallon (MPG) in depleted battery mode, CarNewsChinareported. Geely has also integrated new AI algorithms into the system, which extend battery lifespan by 15% through precise current management.
The sedan comes with Geely’s Flyme Auto system, a smart platform that supports over-the-air (OTA) updates to keep the vehicle’s software continuously up to date without the need for a dealership visit. This system also features advanced intelligent energy management, enabling the car to adapt its power usage for maximum efficiency.

At the beginning of the year, the company also introduced its groundbreaking ‘Full-Domain AI for Smart Vehicles’ technology system. Built on an AI-native operating system (OS), this system serves both consumer and business users and creates a smart ecosystem that spans aerial, spatial, and terrestrial environments.
According to the Chinese EV maker, the AI-driven scene engine plays a key role by dynamically adjusting power distribution in real time based on various driving conditions—such as city traffic, highway cruising, or stop-and-go situations—ensuring optimal performance and fuel economy at all times.
Targeting affordable plug-in hybrid sedan market
Additionally, with this upcoming launch, Geely is expanding its footprint in the affordable plug-in hybrid (PHEV) sedan market—pairing cutting-edge hybrid technology with sleek design and impressive efficiency. The A7 EM-i aims to attract budget-conscious buyers looking for a long-range, smart, and stylish option alongside established competitors.
